We had the most perfect day on little “South Sea Island” in Fiji. Still can’t get over how beautiful the water was, crystal clear and warm. The fish we saw while snorkelling, wow they were just amazing. Great lunch and endless cold beers, just fab.
Why go on this trip…
- Just a short 30-minute ferry ride from Denarau on the big cat, its the closest of all the islands to get to
- Step off straight onto the beach and you’re welcomed by happy singing Fijians
- Walk around the whole island in about 10 mins
- First up is a short trip on the semi-sub, it’s small inside but aircon with great views of all the fishes
- Next, for those who really love snorkelling is a guided trip into deeper water, this is where we saw a moray eel plus tons of other colourful fish and coral
- Back on the island and time for lunch
- Plenty of food and really delicious BBQ buffet with unlimited cold beer or bottled Aussie wine
- Great little show was put on by the staff, singing and dancing while we ate
- Time to check out the handicrafts
- We choose the bean bags for lazying around on the rest of the day with more snorkelling, even at low tide, it was still great! But there were plenty of lounge chairs too
- Kayaks are also there to paddle around in
- Wash off in the fresh water showers
- The complimentary kids club is great right next to the pool
- Salt water swimming pool is really nice
- Take the Hobie cat wave out for a spin around the island, it’s free also
- Ice-creams available at extra cost
- Try the Discover Scuba Introductory Dive or diving for certified divers is also available
Who is it best suited to…
- Everyone from little kids to big kids
What’s not so good about it…
- No dancing or singing if you do the trip on a Sunday
- No proper changing rooms just toilets
- Beach has a lot of coral on it so not so easy to walk around
- The semi-sub is getting a bit tired now
